Russian President Vladimir Putin won the election with a huge majority, but everyone knew he would win anyway.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Putin on his victory, saying he wanted to make the relationship between India and Russia even stronger.

Putin got 87.3% of the votes, with a lot of people turning out to vote.


His closest competitor, Nikolay Kharitonov, only got 4.3%.The Prime Minister,

This win means Putin will be in charge of Russia for a long time. 
He's been in power since the year 2000 and might stay until 2030, making him the longest-serving leader since Joseph Stalin.

Putin said the election showed that Russians are united and that there's still a lot of work to do.

Russia is an important supplier of military equipment to India. 
India also buys oil from Russia, especially when Western countries put sanctions on Russia after the Ukraine invasion in 2022.
