MI,GI Confirm Shami, Dilshan Madushanka’s Replacements For new IPL SEASON 2024
Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians have finalized replacements for their injured players ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Sandeep Warrier will step in for Mohammed Shami in the Gujarat Titans squad, while Kwena Maphaka will fill in for Dilshan Madushanka in the Mumbai Indians lineup.
Sandeep Warrier, a familiar face in India’s domestic cricket scene and previously associated with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will take the place of Mohammed Shami, who is currently sidelined due to a right heel injury that required surgery. Warrier, priced at his base rate of INR 50 lakh, brings his experience from playing five IPL matches across three seasons.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians have opted for the youthful talent of 17-year-old South African Kwena Maphaka to replace Dilshan Madushanka, who sustained an injury during Sri Lanka’s series in Bangladesh. Maphaka, who impressed during the Under-19 World Cup match against India in February and was awarded the Player of the Tournament title, is set to embark on his debut IPL season.
The IPL website has confirmed Madushanka’s absence for the entirety of IPL 2024, prompting Mumbai Indians to secure Maphaka’s services for the upcoming campaign.
With these new additions, both teams are gearing up for the challenges of the IPL 2024 season, hoping to make significant impacts with their revised lineups.
